New policy re climate contrarianism comments as of 11/11/2009:
Comments questioning the climate science community's understanding of climate change (97% of active climatologists now believe that the earth is currently warming and that it's human-caused - link) will be deleted unless the commenter:
a) is local
b) uses his real name
c) provides link(s) to substantiate his claim(s)/inference(s)
d) is willing to collaborate on constructing an argument tree, to get us past the usual sterile point-counterpoint-countercounterpoint.

um, yes...back to the past. Unfortunately a) during my two days of Historical Library immersion the notes became sparser and sparser, plus b) I didn't read all the way through to the end of the month, so in order to do a full month of old clippings (the original, unstated plan) c) I would have had to return to said library to re-immerse which would have had the effect of d) causing even greater underperformance on my myriad present day employment, filial and pre-precipitation responsibilities.

To more directly address Russ's question -
ReplyDeletein short the picture the posts were to make was that the editorial reassurances on "no need for panic", and scoffing at those who were concerned, met up against a reality that was rather different.
pretty hard to tell it from the posts so far though, I agree.
